This workshop is an intro to meditation and pranayama (breathing techniques).
It is a myth that the average person can sit with an empty mind. Most yoga students feel intimidated to even try to attend a meditation class, they say, “oh no! I can’t sit with an empty mind.” Yes, that sure is the goal for those who want to become meditators. But for now, we can allow the thoughts to come and go.
You will learn how to sit as still as we can and talk about the different positions one can use to invite calmness of the body. Even if it means that the body is not completely still, calmness is more important when you sit in meditation.
The workshop will begin with some pranayama (breathing) to center ourselves, followed by a walking meditation to get your energy to further mellow down, before settling into a guided meditation.
If you have never tried to meditate before, this workshop will give you the basics. If you are a meditator do join us, you may pick up something different.
Breathing techniques help calm the mind and relax the body.
